On this beautiful face of the urn, we can see an original painting by the artist. Named "Malerei und Dichtung" in the artist's own hand writing, the piece depicts two personifications. Personifications of "Poetry" and "Painting" are placed in a natural scene. These personifications were a common pair in German influenced parts of Europe, especially in the 19th century. #europe#artist#painting#poetry

On this splendid face of the piece, we can see another original painting by the artist. Named "Venus und Amor" in the artist's own hand writing, the piece depicts a mythological scene where we can see a cupid and Venus. Venus appears to be showing a motherly affection to the Amor, a cupid or the personification of love which Venus herself created according the Roman Mythology. #love#artist#painting#poetry

On this marvelous and last face of the piece, we can see another original painting by the artist. Named "Chained Venus" in the artist's own hand writing once again, the piece depicts a mythological scene as the others where we can see a Eros and Venus, Venus appears to be chained to a tree with olive branches which might be an irony since the olive branches usually referres to peace. Eros is trying to save Venus from her chains. We can see Venus' breasts, one uncovered. Presence of Eros on the composition might be an allegory reflecting on how being in love is like being chained. #love#artist#painting#poetry
